The AMT11 incremental encoder family is targeted at industrial applications. These are subject to vibration and contaminants, such as dust, dirt and oil, which commonly stop optical encoders from working effectively.
In the AMT11, positional information is derived from a patented CUI technology, a capacitive code generation system coupled with a proprietary ASIC. Unlike optical encoders, this noncontacting, electrical field based method of sensing is immune to vibration and contamination. The AMT11 offers exceptional accuracy of ±5 arcmin, typical accuracy is also rated at ±0.2°.
The encoder implements an on-board diagnostic system for use in the field or during development, accessible via a serial interface or CUI’s AMT Viewpoint™ graphical user interface. Furthermore, the modular locking hub simplifies the assembly process, reducing the time-consuming tasks of mounting and alignment to just a few seconds.
The user of the AMT11 can select from 20 programmable resolution values ranging from 48 Points-Per-Revolution (PPR) to 4,096PPR, adjustable at the factory or via AMT Viewpoint.
The device measures 28.58 x 37.25 x 10.34mm. It draws just 10mA at 5VDC, making it suitable for mobile and battery-powered equipment. It operates from a power supply of 4.5V to 5.5V DC, with options for TTL voltage or line-driver outputs.
Additional options include radial or axial connector orientations, nine mating sleeves ranging in diameter from 2mm to 8mm, and base plates with multiple pre-drilled mounting-hole patterns to mate with a wide range of motors.
