Vishay – E, EF and D Series: Complete Power Stage Solutions

When it comes to power supply design, engineers always have a challenge in selecting parts to address their fundamental requirements – efficiency versus cost. Vishay Siliconix offers a competitive portfolio that addresses these needs.

Vishay Siliconix recently released 2 application notes that focus on the proper selection of parts considering both efficiency and cost: “How to Select the Right MOSFET for Power Factor Correction Applications” and “Two-Switch Forward Converter: Operation, Figure of Merit (FOM)” as well as a MOSFET Selection Guide. For example, in reviewing the PFC block diagram for a 650W power converter, Vishay Siliconix offers the SiHG47N60E-GE3 as the most balanced option for efficiency and price. A full range of devices is offered in Vishay’s high voltage MOSFET portfolio, which includes E, EF and D series from 400V to 650V.

Similarly, on the secondary side, by solving application specific FOM which Vishay Siliconix developed to address performance and price, the most balanced option is SiR878ADP-T1-GE3. Other options are available in the ThunderFET® and Gen IV MOSFET portfolio that range from 60V to 250V.

The o-ring and redundancy applications remain the same – lowest power loss versus price. Vishay Siliconix Gen III P-Channel MOSFETs offer the industry’s lowest RDS(ON) with the Si7461DP-T1-GE3 60V rated MOSFET with an extremely low on resistance of 14.5mΩ. Other P-Channel options are also available.

Vishay Siliconix also offers various solutions for low voltage blocks, such as power management, POL, VRM, memory and other system requiring voltage regulations circuits. Discrete solutions drive highest efficiencies and integrated products provide smallest size with insignificant decrease in efficiency. As an example – Vishay’s microBUCK® SiC402A/B and SiC403A/B 3V to 28V rated synchronous buck regulators offer 6A to 10A of output current with FSW up to 1MHz and an efficiency level up to 95%. Other varieties of regulators are also available within the microBUCK products portfolio.

When engineers are working on the signal distribution and routing circuits, Vishay Siliconix has multiple products to address protection, adjustability, speed and noise immunity concerns. The SiP32419 and SiP32429 smart load switches operate up to 28V and can provide programmable current limit and slew rate control functions for signals with lowest power loss due to super low 56mΩ RDS(ON) in 3 x 3mm package. More smart load switch products are also available.

Vishay Siliconix analog switches such as DG1411/12/13 series operating up to 24V offers industry lowest 1.5Ω RDS(ON) with 0.3Ω flatness with unprecedented low leakage of 10pA. More analog switches and multiplexers are also available.
