CUI has announced a new line of wall plug-in AC-DC power supplies featuring an integrated USB connector and complying with both US Level VI and European CoC Tier 2 standards.

The 10W SMI10-USB, SWI10-N-USB and SWI10- E-USB are all designed to meet the stringent Level VI average-efficiency and no-load power requirements in effect as of February 2016 by the US Department of Energy. Any domestic or global manufacturer seeking to market an end product with an external adapter in the US must comply with the Level VI standard. The aim of the standard is to markedly lower the amount of power consumed when the end application is not in use or is no longer connected to the host system.

The new power supplies also comply with the European Union’s proposed January 2018 CoC Tier 2 directive (Code of Conduct on the energy efficiency of external power supplies), which adds power consumption limits at 10% load levels to the requirements of the Level VI standard.

The SWI10-N-USB and SWI10-E-USB are ultra- compact fixed-blade, wall-plug adapters as small as 51.5 x 38.5 x 23.5mm. The AC-DC adapters both feature single 5V DC regulated outputs with a wide input voltage range from 90V to 264V AC. Both series also feature no-load power consumption of less than 0.075W.

The SWI10-N-USB has fixed input blades for North American and Japanese applications, and offers UL/cUL and PSE safety approvals. The SWI10-E-USB with European fixed input blades offers CE and GS safety approvals.

Designed for global applications, the SMI10-USB includes interchangeable AC blade options for North America, Europe, the UK, Australia and China. The 10W multi-blade adapter also provides a single 5V DC regulated output and has a wide input voltage range of 90V to 264V AC. The series meets the Level VI standard’s no-load power consumption requirement of less than 0.1W, and features UL/cUL, CE, GS, RCM, CCC and PSE safety approvals.
