There are many 12V rails in infrastructure and industrial applications today that need a buck regulator to step down the voltage level. These applications often require a very high efficient solution to help reduce electric cost, reduce heat generated on the board in order to help reduce the need for costly cooling, and increase reliability by keeping the die temperature at the lowest level possible. The low RDS(on) FETs in the new Intersil portfolio of buck regulators allow designers to meet all of these needs in a small, easy to use package.

The ISL85005/A is a 5A synchronous buck regulator with an input voltage range of 4.5V to 18V. The regulator can operate from an input voltage range of 4.5V to 18V while delivering very efficient continuous 5A current. The ISL85005/A can automatically switch between DCM and CCM for light-load efficiency in DCM. The switching frequency in CCM is internally set to 500kHz. The difference between the two is that the ISL85005 has an external sync option while the ISL85005A has an adjustable soft start option.

The ISL85009 is a highly efficient, monolithic, synchronous buck regulator that can deliver 9A of continuous output current from a 3.8V to 18V input supply. The device uses current mode control architecture with a fast transient response and excellent loop stability. The ISL85009 integrates a very low ON-resistance high side and low side FETs to maximize efficiency and minimize external component count. The minimum BOM and easy layout footprint are extremely friendly to space constraint systems. The ISL85009 is offered in a space saving 15 Ld 3.5 x 3.5 Pb-free TQFN package with a great thermal performance and 0.8mm maximum height. The integrated low RDS(on) high side and low side FETs in the ISL85009 allow the user to meet all of these needs in a small, easy to use package.

The ISL85012 is a highly efficient, monolithic, synchronous buck regulator that can deliver 12A of continuous output current from a 3.8V to 18V input supply. The device uses current mode control architecture with a fast transient response and excellent loop stability.

The highly integrated ISL85014 allows the user to meet all of these needs in a small easy to use package.
