Kinetis V series MCUs are designed for real-time control applications, including motor control, with the peripherals and performance built-in to meet the demands of these intensive applications. The Kinetis V series, based on Arm® Cortex®-M0+, M4 and M7 cores, feature quad or dual analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) sampling at up to 5 mega samples per second (MSPS) in 12-bit mode (KV5), multiple motor control timers, an integrated CAN controller and a comprehensive enablement suite, including reference designs for ACIM, BLDC and PMSM motor control built on NXP’s Embedded Software libraries and motor configuration tools.
The Kinetis KV1x, KV3x and KV4x MCU families are further enabled with Kinetis Motor Suite (KMS), a software solution that enables the rapid configuration of motor drive systems and accelerates development of the final motor drive application, while improving overall motor system performance. KMS simplifies motor control across variable speeds and loads of any type of 3-phase PMSM, BLDC and ACIM motor regardless of power level or motor control experience. KMS consists of four main components: 1) motor tuner, 2) motor manager, 3) motor observer, 4) and an open source reference solution that improves overall motor system performance due to its unique SpinTAC™ enabled motion controller.
